Planning your tour: The TD Garden offers two different types of tours, The Sports Museum and TD Garden Arena Tours. The Sports Museum is located on Levels 5 and 6 of the TD Garden and is open daily year-round. Hours of operation for both tours are 10 AM – 4 PM, with 3 PM being the last tour of the day.
TD Garden Arena Tours run briefly during the summer months of June through September. Options include public tours, private tours, and even field trip tours. Be sure to check hours and tour availability before your visit; holiday hours may vary.
Sports Museum Tours: Walk through the halls of history and explore the historical memories from the Celtics, Red Sox, Patriots, and Bruins. “You are going back in time to Boston’s greatest sports moments and truly seeing why Boston is very sports-driven, and championship focused," said Rachel Lustenring, development associate at the Sports Museum.
Tours take place on levels 5 and 6 of the Garden and include a variety of sporting exhibits to explore. Learn the history behind Title IX, the Boston Marathon, and view boxing memorabilia, including boxing gloves from Boston native Tony Demarco. "Expect to see Shaquille O'Neal's size 23 shoe!” states Lustenring.
TD Garden Arena Tours: Stroll through the hallways like Boston Bruins Defensemen Zdeno Chara with behind the scenes access to the TD Garden. Begin the tour with a trip to the locker room hallways of the Bruins and Celtics. Then take a visit to the marshaling area, where the Zambonis, Celtics hoops/parquet flooring and Bruins hockey nets are located. Directions: The TD Garden is close to popular attractions like the New England Aquarium, Museum of Science, Beacon Hill and North End neighborhoods, and is easily accessible on public transportation. Hop on the MBTA Orange, Red, or Blue line subways into Boston. From the suburbs, the commuter rail's North Station terminal is also the ground floor of the TD Garden.
Boston has many historical places to visit, but this hidden Jem should be top of the list.
