Packing for a Day at the Shore: What's In Your Beach Bag?
How to spend vacations in Cape Cod
The Cape has so many great beaches suitable for swimming, sand castle building and tanning. Whether you like the Outer Cape, Lower Cape, Mid Cape, or Upper Cape beaches, or even the ponds, there is somewhere for you to go and enjoy the sun and sand.
If you plan on visiting the ponds on your vacation, make sure you come prepared. Some things that you should definitely include in your beach bag are sunblock, sunglasses and beach towels. Optional items include beach chairs, beach umbrellas and sun hats.
If you will be spending a long day on the beach, it can be a good idea to stock up a cooler with water (or other drinks), sandwiches and fruit. If you will have kids with you, bringing snacks is always a good idea, especially things that don't get too sandy, like pretzels.
For the kids, be sure to bring some beach toys, from a simple pail and shovel, to sand molds, noodles, or other play things.
Be sure to bring everything you need to the beach of your choice so that your day doesn't get derailed by having to go home to get something.
And of course, make sure that you have a beach sticker or proper pass on your car.
