“Washington Park is home to some of the city’s top attractions including the Portland Japanese Garden, Oregon Zoo, Hoyt Arboretum, Portland Children’s Museum and much more. A walking path connects all of the attractions in addition to a shuttle that operates in the summer months,” stated Marcus Hibdon, Travel Portland Director of Communications and Public Relations.
Experience nature with a 3-mile walk through the Washington Park trail. This trail gives hikers the chance to visit many of Portland’s premier attractions. The Washington Park trail connects to the Oregon Zoo, Portland’s nature gardens, and the Portland Children’s Museum.
View the beauty of nature when visiting Portland’s green gardens. Visit America’s oldest public rose test garden. Portland’s International Rose Garden offers a variety of more than 10,000 rose bushes.

Stroll through the Portland Japanese Garden and witness the awe-inspiring garden escapes such as a waterfall pond, ceremonial teahouse, natural garden, flat garden and sand-stone garden. The Japanese Garden has traditional cherry trees, Azaleas, and Japanese maples.

Learn more about the animals by visiting many attracting exhibits including the Giraffe Feeding Deck, family farm, and even behind the scenes tours! See the Oregon ZooLights! ZooLights give the Oregon Zoo a festive approach by lighting up the zoo with holiday cheer.
Hours and Admission: The Oregon Zoo’s hours change seasonally and are open every day besides Christmas. Adults (12 and up) pay $22.95, children (3-11) pay $12.95 and children 2 and under are free.

Hike through the Hoyt Arboretum; Portland’s living museum homes over 2,000 species of trees and plants from all over the world. Navigate the trail and enjoy the nature-filled scenery. The Hoyt Arboretum is located minutes away from downtown Portland and is free!

“You can hop on the city's light rail downtown and be at the start of the 30-mile Wildwood trail within 15 minutes, all without getting in a car. Washington Park's access to urban greenspace, along with its museums, gardens, and zoo, make it one of the best city parks in the country,” stated Heather McCarey, Executive Director of Washington Park.
*Washington Park offers a free shuttle across the trails and exploring the venues and attractions in the park. Shuttles are offered for pickup at all attractions every 15 minutes. First stop, TriMet Washington Park Max Station and last stop, Lewis & Clark.
