Educational Excitement in Cleveland
Make getting ready for back to school fun
Summer is in full swing and kids have been out of school for over a month. Running out of things to do? We’ve got you covered, and, bonus, we’ll keep it educational to get them ready for back to school.
1. Greate Lakes Science Center
Great Lakes Science Center covers all things STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) to inspire and delight. Learning comes alive with hundreds of hands-on exhibits; your children can be virtual doctors in the BioMed Tech lab, learn about space travel in the NASA Glenn Visitor Center, see how the science center utilizes green energy, and so much more. They’re always featuring new and fun limited run exhibits, such as the very popular Beyond Rubik’s Cube.
2. Greater Cleveland Aquarium
The fun keeps on coming when you swim on over to the Greater Cleveland Aquarium. The aquariums tanks hold over 1 million gallons of water packed with both freshwater and saltwater creatures. You’ll get to experience fish from all over the world, from colorful Tropical Reef beauties to an exhibit of local fish and creatures from the nearby Lake Erie. Their star attraction is the SeaTube, where you can walk “underwater” through this 175 foot gallery and watch sharks swim over head. Be sure to say “Hi,” to their Goliath Grouper fish!
3. Cleveland Museum of Natural History
The Cleveland Museum of Natural History is packed with exhibits to help children (and adults) learn about the beauty of our natural world. They have lots to see and explore; travel through the solar system in the Shafran Planetarium, or get up close in their many outdoor galleries. A huge draw to this museum is their dinosaur exhibit, The World’s Largest Dinosaurs, where you can learn the science behind their size and see replicas of some of these huge reptilian creatures. Who doesn’t want to see a dinosaur bone that is bigger than their entire body?
