George Washington’s Mount Vernon is the home of America’s first president. Explore four gardens and a working farm, and visit George Washington's tomb.
A museum exhibit tells the story of the people who shaped Mount Vernon, including Washington and Custis family members, enslaved and hired laborers, and Vice Regents of the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association, which has owned and preserved Mount Vernon since the 19th century.
Mount Vernon is embarking on a landmark preservation project to safeguard the Mansion for generations to come. An enclosed work area will be fenced to the north of the Mansion for the duration of this project. As work progresses through the house, individual rooms will be taken off display temporarily.
On weekends, April – October, tour fully-functioning reconstructions of Washington's gristmill and whiskey distillery. Included with admission.
